Pull your pants up!

American Idol "singer" makes a splash
I have to admit when I saw the video of General Larry Platt singing "Pants on the ground" I got a good laugh. He managed to do what I've been wanting to do for quite a while, poke fun at the way the young men are wearing their pants these days. It bothers me. I think its just stupid and ridiculous. I have three boys and never let them go out of the house without a belt and their pants secured around their hips. Think about it, those hips come in handy, holding up the pants - that's if you buy the right size and not five sizes too big. I don't get it. Why would anyone want to go around all day with their pants hanging down where everyone can see your boxers.
Pants on the Ground
Where did this "style" originate?
Did you know this craze among young men started in prison? First of all, the inmates aren't allowed to have belts because they might hang themselves or hurt someone else and apparently, I've been hearing this for years - if an inmate wears his pants below his booty, that signals the other inmates that he is homosexual or bisexual and wants a little action. This is common knowledge to alot of people already but some of you may find this shocking.
If you have the guts to approach one of these fashion plates about their pants and ask them if they knew that prisoners started this whole thing, they probably won't believe you. Many people will argue it came from Hip-Hop. Which came first, prison or Hip-Hop? Either way, it is a turn-off to many, especially the older generations.

That's a good question. Thanks for the nice comment.
My wife first told me about this video. I found it both fun and amusing. A thought just occurred me while I was reading your hubs: How would people--mainly men--feel about women wearing their pants below their hips? Would they filled turned off or turned on? Just a thought. Oh, by the way: Nice hub,
I like the song too. Sad, but I find myself humming it...how pathetic is that?

Gotta admit, I struggle with the 20-sizes-too-big-pants hanging low. I would think it would feel uncomfortable, and I wonder how often they just drop at inopportune moments?
That's a mental image I don't really need.......
Thanks for sharing.
