retro toys - some things never change
64The more things change, the more they stay the same.
If you've been in a toy store lately you may have noticed some of the toys you played with as a child have made a comeback. Some have not changed much at all - when you've got a good thing, why change it? Many baby-boomers will remember alot of these toys: Slinky, which was originally wire and different versions have come out in rainbow colors made of plastic. I remember pushing my slinky down the stairs. inch-worm, - wasn't there a jingle that went:inch worm, inch worm - for fun, it's a wonderful toy? Or was that Slinky? Miss Beatrice doll.- She was blonde and had glasses and her body was blue with white polka dots. Dancerella- She was a doll about two feet high that you pushed a button on her head to make her twirl around. Lite Brite- still going strong with different versions. Sit and Spin, Rockem' Sockem' robots, ( remember the fighting ring where you knocked each others heads off?) Hop and Bounce ball- had a handle where you sit and bounce around the room. Easy Bake Oven- oh, the things I baked with just a lightbulb! Barbie- She's come a long way, Baby! Glow Worm- I believe you had to turn it on and his belly would glow. Leggos - Many differnet versions available now. Also there was a pull along phone with eyes that moved. I'm not sure what it was called.
I'm sure there are many more toys I've forgotten but I hope you've enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

I've seen many games and stuff come back but different. Ever play with Lincoln Logs? They were fun but now different. Many board games have now returned but updated.
Maybe I'm just stuck on what I had when I was a kid. Slinkies were cool, but are they the same now that they're plastic? Do they work the same? I love the Hub. Serious.
Ya got me thinking of the real old days. My neighbor and I used to put together 2-3 canisters of Lincoln Logs and make huge compounds and all sortsa stuff. My favorite was my collection of marbles.
About eight years ago I remember buying the 'sit n spin' for two granddaughters - then it was considered a bit outdated but they loved them! - and it burns off soooo much energy - great exercise. I'd love to see more toys that get the kids moving - or board games - that get them thinking. Personally, I loooove legos.
Enjoyed the hub - thanks!

You know the verse, John 3:16. It is probably the most memorized verse there is. We recite it so much that I wonder if we really stop to think about it...meditate on how precious it really is. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only... - 14 months ago
